Biography

Since 2009 Yannick Verbelen has been assigned the mandate of electronics assistant in the Rapptor research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He teaches technology oriented courses including embedded hardware design, robotics, analog design and CAD as well as providing students with the basics of statistics, research methodology and lab skills. He co-founded Fablab Brussels and has been developing and improving the fablab's electronics manufacturing (PCB) and assembly line (PCBA) ever since. His research efforts primarily focus on advancing the integration of energy harvesting generators to power small embedded systems with a particular emphasis on dimensioning, MPP tracking, power conversion and energy storage. His side interests include mechatronics, cryptography and UAV design and development.
